Too much to do? When people feel overworked and stretched too thin, it’s easy to start looking around for places to lay the blame: on the boss, on the institution, on a lack of resources, and so on. Sometimes this is an accurate diagnosis of the problem, but quite often a closer analysis will point to root causes that – while complex – can in fact be sorted out.
Knowing how to identify and neutralise the drivers of overload, then initiate or facilitate difficult conversations with ourselves and other project stakeholders are essential skills for success in today’s fast-paced workplace.
